Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Addis Ababa – Drive to Arba Minch (approx. 7–8 hrs)
Early morning departure from Addis Ababa. Scenic drive through the Rift Valley lakes region (Ziway, Langano, Shashemene). Stops for birdwatching, photos, and local encounters. Evening arrival in Arba Minch. Overnight in Arba Minch.
Day 2: Arba Minch – Dorze Village & Lake Chamo
Morning visit to Dorze village, known for unique beehive-shaped huts and weaving culture. Afternoon boat trip on Lake Chamo to see giant crocodiles, hippos, and birdlife. Overnight in Arba Minch.
Day 3: Arba Minch – Konso – Turmi
Drive to Konso, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for terraced agriculture and traditional 'waka' grave markers. Continue to Turmi, home of the Hamer people. Evening cultural visit in a Hamer village. Overnight in Turmi.
Day 4: Turmi – Kara & Hamer Tribes
Excursion to meet the Karo tribe, known for elaborate body painting and Omo River views. Afternoon visit with the Hamer tribe; if lucky, you may witness a bull-jumping ceremony. Overnight in Turmi.
Day 5: Turmi – Dassanech Tribe – Key Afer – Jinka
Cross the Omo River to meet the Dassanech tribe, with unique scarification traditions. Drive north to Key Afer (if Thursday, visit its vibrant tribal market). Continue to Jinka. Overnight in Jinka.
Day 6: Jinka – Mago National Park – Mursi Tribe
Morning excursion into Mago National Park to visit the Mursi people, famous for lip plates and body decorations. Afternoon visit to the Ari tribe, skilled in pottery and agriculture. Overnight in Jinka.
Day 7: Jinka – Flight to Addis Ababa – Departure
Morning transfer to Jinka airport. Flight back to Addis Ababa. Depending on flight schedule: shopping at local markets or optional Addis tour. Evening transfer to international airport for departure.
